I am so excited to announce that my first eBook entitled, "Why Donald Trump Won the Election Despite Losing the Popular Vote Bigly: Understanding the Electoral College System, Teen Edition" is completed. Actually, this book was a joint venture with my mom, I was just the co-author and illustrator.
As the Youth President of an organization called, Volunteers Organized to Exercise Responsibility (V.O.T.E.R.), I decided to write this book this past Summer, after the party conventions. Back then, my mom explained to me that although the people vote for President, it's actually the Electoral College that casts the actual votes that will decide our next president. She explained a little about what the Electoral College is, how it works, and why we utilize this system. It was all very shocking to me because I was taught in school that America is a Democracy - one person, one vote! So, to think that 538 people ultimately decide the greatest office in the world, was very very surprising to me.
Shortly after learning about this, I approached my mom and asked her if we should do a pamphlet for V.O.T.E.R. She thought is was a great idea. She had me do the preliminary research and then we sat down to put together ideas for the illustrations.
Little did we know back then, how significant the "pamphlet" would be. Neither of us could imagine that one candidate for President would win the popular vote but still lose the election; similar to 2000 when Al Gore lost to George W. Bush.
After the election, our pamphlet turned into this little e-book. It is designed to help Teens understand how and why Presidents in the United States are elected by the process of the Electoral College.
This book is offered as a free download to anyone who desires to read or distribute it. I only ask that you stop by my Facebook page and give it a like! This way, other young people who are inspired to serve their community have a place to join forces and share ideas and projects.
I hope you enjoy my first book.
